3D Piping
To ensure the complete integration of all engineering disciplines in a project the following aspects are draughted in 3D

  • architectural & civil
  • structural steel
  • 2D and 3D plant layouts
  • mechanical
  • piping
  • electrical & instrumentation
  • heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC)
All of the above disciplines are incorporated into the generation of the final 3D model. The 3D model is checked for interference using all disciplines and after a clash free status has been confirmed, isometric projections are utilised for the construction phase.

The piping model is also utilised as the reference basis for the pipe stress analysis. As soon as the preliminary routing and pipe support design has been completed, a set of stress isometrics are generated and analysed using CEASAR.

The following information from the central database is electronically accessed and used during the draughting of the 3D piping models:
  • line size & line specification
  • line number
  • 2D and 3D plant layouts
  • valve & fitting numbers
  • valve & fitting sizes
  • equipment numbers
The package automatically generates a cross check between the P&ID and piping model ensuring that no equipment exists in one and not in the other. Changes such as low point drains, which usually only become apparent during the plant layout study, are captured and incorporated into the P&ID's.

Supports structures and bracketing are included in the piping models, ensuring that they are incorporated into the cost of the piping.
Supports include:
  • hangers
  • hinged & double bolted clamps
  • pipe slides & saddles
  • hangers & springs
